News >Aetna Foundation Awards Girls in the Game $15,000
Girls in the Game recently became the recipient of a $15,000 grant from the Aetna Foundation, which promotes wellness and access to high-quality healthcare, while providing support to the communities that Aetna serves through giving and volunteering. One of the focuses of the Foundation is the rise in obesity rates, an issue that Girls in the Game addresses through its teachings about healthy and active lifestyles, with the After School programs reaching the highest numbers of girls on a regular basis. Girls in the Game would like to thank the Aetna Foundation for its generosity in supporting Girls in the Game's mission to provide sports & fitness opportunities, nutrition & health education and leadership opportunities to enhance the overall health and well-being of all girls. As a first-time recipient of the Aetna Foundation grant, Girls in the Game looks forward to developing its relationship with Aetna. Throughout its history, the Aetna Foundation has strengthened disease prevention programs; helped revitalize neighborhoods; supported the arts, education and people in need; and listened to the voices of difference that shape our nation. Since 1980 Aetna and the Aetna Foundation have contributed over $359 million in grants and sponsorships. |
