More Girls, More Game
Over the past 17 years, Girls in the Game has helped thousands of girls develop into strong, healthy young women. This year schools are facing steep budget cuts that leave no funding for the after school programs that kids so desperately need. Girls in the Game served 3,000 girls last year and many more girls and schools are on waiting lists for programs. Obesity rates continue to rise as access to nutrition education and physical fitness activities falls. Girls deserve a safe place to play and learn.
Unfortunately, schools no longer receive the after school funding Girls in the Game normally relies on to bring programs to girls across Chicago. Research shows that after being involved with Girls in the Game for one year, girls ate healthier, exercised more and portrayed a more positive self-image.
Thanks to generous donors, our fundraising goal was met for the 2011-2012 school year! Please stay tuned for further information about the 2012-2013 campaign.
